Age Africa praised for supporting needy students in Kasungu

The Advancing Girls’ Education in Africa (Age Africa) has earned praise for its initiatives aimed at supporting needy students in secondary and tertiary education with school fees and other learning materials.

Acting Education Division Manager in the Central East Education Division Charles Muthothe was speaking during this year’s All Scholars Retreat held at Loyola Jesuit Secondary School in Kasungu.

Muthothe said access to education often becomes a far-fetched dream for students from poor backgrounds without such support, hence applauding the organization for its efforts.

One of the beneficiary students from Providence Secondary School Anna Bvutani said achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer would have been difficult if she had not benefited from the initiative.

Age Africa Programmes Officer Lovemore Kutani Banda said the organization is committed to transforming the lives of girls and boys.

We want to see them change their lives but also the lives of their communities. We have given them scholarships to succeed in their education, and our expectation is that when they go back to their schools, they will work hard in their studies,” Kutani Banda added.

The organization is currently supporting 180 needy students in secondary and tertiary education with school fees and other requirements, and plans are already in place to reach out to 80 more students in the district.
