Malawi Congress Party (MCP) parliamentary candidate for Kasungu Municipality Wisdom Chimgwede says poor road infrastructure has long been a concern in the municipality.
Speaking during a political rally in Juma area, Chimgwede said the situation needs committed leaders who can make regular follow-ups on government initiatives aimed at improving the roads, while also mobilizing additional resources to complement government efforts.
He therefore, told the gathering that this challenge is one of the reasons motivating him to vie for the parliamentary seat, describing himself as a leader capable of addressing such issues and helping the municipality attain its much-anticipated city status.
On his part MCP shadow councillor for Chankhanga Ward Hastings Nyirongo urged constituents to vote for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Chimgwede and himself in the upcoming general elections, saying that would ensure full representation at council level, improved roads and reliable piped water supply, among others.
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has nominated seven parliamentary candidates in Kasungu Municipality Constituency.
AFORD, UTM and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have also fielded candidates, alongside three independents, all seeking the seat in the constituency.
